Brazilian Wandering Spiders

There are often reports in the media of Brazilian wandering spiders Phoneutria fera or their egg sacks being fund with bananas, in fact it is extremely rare to find wandering spiders in bananas, and they never lay or attach their eggs sacks to bananas.

Vary occasionally things are found attached to bananas (see examples).  It is important to be clear these ARE NOT eggs sacs of Brazilian wandering spiders, Phoneutria spp. which carry their egg sac sacs with them and do not deposit them on bananas.
